Home comforts meets modern flexibility

dMFK, in collaboration with Sher + White Architects, have collaborated to create a next-generation creative space, utilizing all their sizeable experience in both workplace and home design to create a space that exudes calm and comfort.

Overlooking the vibrant Charlotte Street, the space has been designed to act as part showroom, part office, a perfect showcase of the architectural principles dMFK apply to their high-end projects throughout London.

dMFK can count The Office Group, Landsec, Derwent and GPE amongst their most recent clients, and in working for some of the UK’s leading office providers they have created a clear tendency to design offices that offer incentive to employees to return to the office. It is clear that this strategy was applied to their own home, with residential touches that put their people first.

Flexibility of usage was one of the key drivers for the space, as well as an evident sustainability aspiration.

Matching Aspirations

Throughout, quality aspects of the previous fit-out have been retained, reused or redesigned, with a beautiful solid French Oak floor one such example.

We were provided with the brief to take up the existing flooring re-work where possible and extend with a carefully selected matching product where needed.

The existing areas were inspected before sanding and applying three coats of Loba 2k invisible lacquer.

Where necessary, it was then a matter of creating a hard-worn look on areas where the flooring required extending, the overall effect being a flooring that is warm, classic and completely in keeping with the rest of the design.

Overall, this was a stunning project and one that we are proud to have collaborated on and been a part of the design that gained the title of Mixology’s 2023 Project of the Year: Workplace Interiors Sub5k sq ft award.
