Retaining Heritage: Refurbishing Flooring

Newer is not always better.

We take great pride in our ability to find a workable solution for our clients, whether they want a fresh start or new life breathing into their existing product.

Refurbishment rather than replacement has a multitude of benefits from environmental through to cost savings.

Our team can identify the issues and recommend the perfect solution to restore the natural beauty in a product, below are just a few examples of our recent projects in this arena, with a clear transformation easily visible.

Sun Bleached Flooring

This original walnut flooring had suffered terribly with sun bleaching, with prolonged exposure causing visible discolouration throughout.

Our client decided they wanted to retain the original flooring, and so the process of restoration began. Firstly, sanding back before applying three coats of water based lacquer. This specialist lacquer possesses a strong UV protection element which will help to negate the sun’s impact on the flooring and delay any further bleaching.

The end result is completely unrecognisable, transforming the space and adding a beautiful, natural element to the space.

Sampling

A residenta, was this lovely oak flooring that needed a freshen up. Our client wanted to get rid of the ‘orange’ under tones. We started by providing samples for our client to choose her desired look.

Once decided on the flooring samples, we then sanded all areas back to the bare wood, we then applied 3 coats of Loba Invisible 2 part lacquer. This lacquer given a strong and natural look to the floors. Choosing the lighter oak flooring really helped brighten their interior as well as having that warm welcoming feel.

Scratches Refurbishment.

Over time our client’s flooring faced some harsh wear and tear, with a deep scratch in their flooring. We were asked to remove the scratch and restore their original floor boards.

We started by sanding the flooring to bring up the original walnut. An oil based stain was then applied ready to be finished with three coats of durable lacquer. This gave a whole fresh new look.
